Hello everyone, I have also pulled my 240 H out for the season, 100 hours this year! I have an area to store the boat and a mooring cover for over the top. The problem I am having is removing the bimini top. There are two screws on the outside of the boat about mid ship, port and starboard, that attach the bimini poles to the boat. The screws will turn about half way in either direction but no further. I am afraid to really torque on the screws in fear they will break. The dealer says the removal of these screws will allow me to remove the bimini. Any suggestions? |

On the post-05 Horizons, I believe they are held on only with that screw, which most likely has some Loctite on it to keep it from backing out. You're probably just hitting that Loctite and will have to "power through it" to get the screw out (don't let your screwdriver slip!!). You'll also have to assess whether it needs more Loctite when you put it back in. The bimini attachment on the post-05's is a huge improvement in terms of ease of use while it's attached, but it's worse from the standpoint of installing & removing it. The '03-'05's require 2 people to do it, but all 4 points are quick disconnects. |

I soaked with a little WD-40, waited and it came out easy. Thanks..... |

Not that it matters this time, but WD40 isn't a penetrant (nor is it a lubricant). It's a "Water Deterent", thus the name. You're far better off using Liquid Wrench, Kroil or any number of other actual joint penetranting oils. As far as deterring water, you're better off using BoeSheild. WD-40 is the 'jack of all trades, master of none'. |

I agree, WD40 is anathema. It really isn't good for anything IMO (although some people swear it works miracles when sprayed on fishing lures). Yet, I never want to be without a can of it  .Everyone seems to agree Kroil is the best penetrant, yet in this area it's virtually impossible to find. A good 2nd choice is PB Blaster which is available at WalMart. |

WD-40 is good for cleaning… It takes rubber out from my race car. And keeps frame clean between runs…. that’s about it. I like Kroil as well and I get them from on-line See http://www.kanolabs.com |
