While running the boat during pre-season checks the thermostat finally seems to be working properly (pulled some old rubber impeller bits out of it) and it gets right up to temp and holds at 160. One riser is hotter than the other, about 10 degrees is all according to the IR thermometer. Indication of anything to worry about or probably normal.
The poor search function on this forum helps explain many of my simple questions.
