Hello, I'm new to the site and just bought a 2005 280 Horizon with twin 5.0 with only 180 hours. It's my first boat with a toilet setup and I'm struggling to figure out how to get the water to the toilet. It has a pump out setup with a Thetford 735 MSD toilet. It looks as if it's never been used and all hoses in good shape. There is a switch in the head compartment with a full tank indicator light. When the switch is on the switch does light up. The full tank indicator does not come on and the bowl is empty. The water works to all the faucets and transom shower perfectly. I'm just not getting water to the toilet. Is there another switch somewhere or how does this work? Any other tips appreciated as well.

Thanks in advance!
Keith

Are you sure it has any connection to the boat's water system? Looking at their web site, it looks like the MSD option is for permanent pump-out hose for waste water, but not a fill for freshwater.

I don't see the 735 MSD model on the Thetford web site, but the 550 with MSD option has a manual fill on the fresh water tank, and manual pump to flush.

There is a water hose connected to the back of the toilet along with a bigger waste pump out hose. I'm not sure if it's fresh water or not. I'm guessing it's a water hose anyways? I have a picture.. Image

That round cap with the three lobes is the fresh water tank. You have to manually fill it in there. There should be a bellows pump opposite that fill cap that you push to "flush" the toilet. Up front is a handle that dumps the waste into the bottom holding tank. You then get it pumped out at a gas dock or other pump out station. I'd recommend adding some port-a-potty chemicals to the bottom holding tank to keep the odor down and help break down the waste.

I'm guessing that might be a vent line...essentially to let air into the holding tank as the waste is being sucked out? If it doesn't go to the upper tank, then it is not fresh water supply.

The white hose does not look like a fresh water hose FW normally uses. Check the rest of the lines on the boat and they are probably blue or red if you have a water heater pex tubing. The small white hose is probably a vent like others said.

Yes the small line is a vent line for the holding tank. It does let air in during pump out or else it would implode from the vacuum.
