Hello All,

I just ordered a Lowrance Fishfinder, I bought it mainly to tell depth as the stock in-dash depth gauge no longer works. It comes with the transom mount transducer. I wanted to know where others (with 190 Horizons) have mounted their transducers. Pics if you have would be great and much appreciated.

thanks...fred

Mount on the Real Transom, not on the back of the "Extended Planing Surfaces", which would likely introduce a lot of air bubble interference. About 8-12" left or right of the outdrive is fine. Follow instructions for mounting height and angle.

Be sure to seal screw holes with 3M 5200 or 4200.

Yes, that would work fine.

That is exactly how I determined the location of mine, and it works great.

thanks for the confirmation...just got my fishfinder and I got no directions on the transducer install...I assume just drill a hole to run the transducer cable from behind the mount? I'll go to Lowrance's site to see if they have more detailed instructions...

Also, the 3M 5200/4200 screw sealer I can just get at home depot?

Also, will the V angle affect how to mount? do I mount angled with the V or mount in a way that transducer is parallel to water line?

You want the bottom surface of the transducer to be parallel to the surface of the water, slightly angled down at the rear. Try not to mount it too close to the prop or right behind a strake; you want it in clean undisturbed water.
My boat had an old Humminbird fish finder and it would lose bottom at speed. I replaced it with a Garmin 441S that holds bottom great at all speeds; gives depth, GPS speed and water temp.

Actually, I think right behind a strake can be a good spot, because it can be parallel to the surface of the water, and nearly parallel to the surface of the hull (so less spray). This assumes that the strake continues all the way to the transom. The first strake (closest to boat centerline) would have the best (air bubble free) water.

You will drill the hole for the wire above the waterline... Again look to see where the tube for the speedo enters/exits the hull... Before you drill check for wires and such mounted to the inside of the hull.

To determine the angle to mount I used a straight edge from the out drive transom mount.

ok...based on these pics of my boat...where would you mount? where the arrow is or oval? I also see how the speedo is routed and will do the same..
