I know boat speedometers are flakey but nine days? Got the boat to WOT for the first time today and the needle barely reached 20 mph. FYI, the engine is a 2015 ETEC 135 H.O.

I'm sure it's just debris or something, and it's a warranty repair, but still. Am I expecting too much?

If it's a water/air pressure style speedo they rarely work consistently. Mine sometimes works but t just use the GPS on the Garmin.

You aren't expecting too much....probably debris but I would want it repaired too. Speedos aren't that much off...Ipersonally don't care to know exact sped and my speedo was only a few MPH different than GPS during the one time I checked it.

I go by rpms anyway and don't really care if I'm going 41 or 43 MPH. Same with my vehicle...as long as its close im good.

These speedometers measure water pressure ramming into the front of your lower unit. There is a little intake hole there where the water enters. Running into any weeds, plastic, etc can block or plug the hole. Not really a warrantee issue at all.

Disconnecting the tube and blowing back through it will usually clear the blockage. Use mouth pressure, or low pressure from air compressor or bike pump (less than about 25psi). If that doesn't do it, you might need a small wire to fish out the hole.

Here is a lot more information specific to your engine:
