Re-post I started this thread with the thought that it would be a good idea to use a trailer travel cover for my new boat while on the highway. Last season I used my bow and cockpit moorage covers but I realized that if we were coming back at dusk it would be hard to pick out all the dead bugs. Additionally the snaps could come undone and wail away on the boat until we noticed. I then found out that you don’t want too many straps with the cover as they also could chafe and eat away at the gel coat. Now Four Winns is offering a cover for 2008 and it is posted on their web site. It just survived two ice storms and the first 2 inches of snow and I've only had the boat one month! Sad to say my boat has seen more snow than water! |

Hey Walt. Nice picture of your boat. USD $900.00 ? That is a chunk of change. I got an initial quote of about $370.00 for a FW 190 but that might be dealer cost(or new sales clerk). I don't get the fact that there are no straps. I realize that is better for the gel coat but how does it stay on? You have no problems leaving the boat out like that? I just put mine back in the garage. I had it outside in a Cosco tent when I realized the tent condences water on the inside and then drops onto the boat. Anyways, I then noticed water in the ski locker/bilge from the winterizing so I have to remove that first before moving the boat back outside. No moisture - no mold. I also got some moisture remover to keep in the boat. |

It's got tent-like posts (not used this time) to keep water dripping over the sides, and a vent on each side. It is "strapped" by a single strap going around the entire boat as a skirt, with binders in the back to make tight. This one has clips for the strap and velcro for the cover to accomidate the tower. I agree with it being pricy! I was in a bind when I picked up my boat. Just make sure you get the correct one. The dealer even sent my HID with the order to ensure I recieved the correct cover. They sent me one for an arch. By the time I got the right cover, the forcast was looking nasty. I had to get it covered and fast, while the weather was nice the day I got her home. Missouri weather is notorious for change. Case in point.... It was 70F the day before we got about an inch of ice, then the snow pictured. Good Luck! |

Update! For those owners interested in the FW trailer travel cover I have a quote of USD $450.00 delivered to the door for a FW Horizon 190. Problem is the dealer is not sure of the materal at this time. Cheers. |

Hey, I did some investigation on mine. It is made of "SUR Last" Material, manufactured for Fourwinns by Commercial Sewing, Inc; Torrington, Ct. I hope that helps for comparison. |

I think I'm going to upgrade to that for next season. I picked up an el cheapo for this winter while she's sitting in the shed. The main point was to keep the bird poo off the good covers. I need a one piece mooring cover cause the bow/cockpit covers let rain water in during the summer. |

Lake Panorama by Panora. It's a nice (smaller) 1400 acre lake about 40 mins west of U'dale. It stays pretty quiet and loading and unloading are pretty laid back which is great when you're contending with a 2 and 4 yr old along with a 22' boat. |

I ordered my trailer travel cover on 12-20-07. The dealership I ordered it from keeps telling me that it is on back order and they are not sure when the factory will make more. Is anyone else having this kind of problem and how long did it take you guys to get your covers? |

Sharp looking boat H. I especially like the bimini integrated into the tower, as on mine. I would say mine took less than a week; that was ordered from the dealer at purchase, and delivered to my house. I did have to return mine, the one recieved had cut-outs for the arch, and not tower. Again, it didn't take long to get the correct cover. |

Horizon 190, I can't speak from experience on the covers but I can speak from experience with anything your dealer says is "back-ordered." If you feel like you aren't getting good enough answers, just call Cadillac, MI and speak to their rep directly. I went through a frustrating communication breakdown over my delivery date last year, and a series of phone calls over the course of a day or two cleared everything up. Be polite, but ask direct questions. The people in MI are very friendly and very helpful. |
