I finally decided to purchase my first boat. I wanted a Fish-n-Ski so I could fish and also take the family out, and I wanted an outboard. I found a 1997 Horizon QX with a Johnson 115 that was in immaculate shape. The previous owner really took care of the boat. I took it out for a test, it ran great, then took it in to the Johnson mechanic for an inspection. He said the engine looked new, no problems at all. The previous owner always did the services early (has all paperwork) and always upgrade components. I take possesion next week.

Congrats, that should make a great first boat.

I purchased a '98 RX last year as our first boat that has been perfect. The only downfall recently has been that I can't use it

:D I can't believe it. I got the boat. I picked it up yesterday and towed it home. I wanted to take it out but the winds were gusting at over 35mph. My garage was a mess so I had to squeeze it in and take the front of the trailer off. I guess my next chore is to clean the garage. I can't wait to take it out now. I will send pictures as soon as I pull it out of the garage.

You are correct. The buying frenzy begins. I am already flipping through the catalogs.

Thanks all!

Mike

I'm new to FW's. Just bought mine last month after shopping all spring and summer. This is my 4th boat. First was a '23 Sail; second was an inflatable dingy for the first; third was an '18 Maxum BR. I'm looking forward to great things from my brand new toy, and hoping for plenty of good information from you guys.

Thanks!

Welcome Walt, great looking boat! You on the MO side? Who's your dealer? I'm in Olathe.

Thanks,
Mo side. I bought thru Village in Osage Beach. Have you had any dealings with the guys in Topeka? I'm trying to find somebody local. A dealer just opened in Lee's Summit, and I have a few minor warranty issues I'll need resolved. Hoping I don't have to trailer 4 hours each way to get it done!

Walt are you talking about KC Boats? I live right down the road from them. They've always been there, they just moved across I-470-from the west side to the east side of the highway. I went to their old shop about 8 months ago and they were closed. I assumed they went out of business until I saw the new one the other day.

They are supposedly a FW dealer, but I don't know ANYTHING about them. I've been towing to/from Village, but they are only 45 minutes from my storage unit at PdT Lake. I've been meaning to stop in there to talk to them about FW service, so I guess I have more motivation now. I'll let you know what I find out.

You and 230Mike should come down to PdT next summer. I'll make my brother come over from Stockton (he has a 2007 220H that is identical to mine-except color). We'll have a big FW Horizon rally. You know-drive around in circles chewing up the water, running 4-across down the channel and scaring everyone, hitting anyone we can find riding a PWC, scaring children, women, small kittens, etc.

Yes, my dealer is the Topeka folks.

Paul, I was thinking exactly the same thing.

About hitting the people on PWC's or scaring the women, children, and kittens?
