Post subject:  Spark Plugs - different information

At the moment I'll prepare the winterizing of my boat by ordering parts.
LouC told me a lot about engine-oil and with his help I was able to fix my gauge problem.
Therefore, thanks a lot.

Now I'm confused about the right spark plugs.

The pick list of BRP shows the champion spark plug: RV15YC4
The german manual of Volvo Penta (VP send it to me last week) shows three diffrent plugs:

VP: 3856759
AC: MR43LTS
Champion: RS12YC

The Clymer Workshop Manual tells about two others:

NGK : BR6FS
AC: MR43T

and the Seloc Manual:

VP: RV15YC4
Champion: MR43T

which one is the right one?

Personally I would go with one of the 3 listed in the VP Manual.
Those cross check as converting from one to the other.
I trust the factory manual myself.

I've used the AC marine plugs for years and never had a problem even in salt water...

thx a lot.

For me it is not possible to get the AC Delco plugs cheap.

Here in germany I've to pay round about 8 to 12$ for each plug.

So I'll go to the champion plug RS12YC, which is also recommended in the manual.

Have a nice Sunday, thx.

I've had 40hp and 90 hp Johnson outboards for the last couple of years.
My factory service manuals call out Champion QL78YC plugs and I haven't had any issues.
They cost me about $3 each and I change them twice a year.

I've used Champions in our Jeeps and they were fine too. The main thing is to not leave them in too long because of the dampness in the engine compartment due to rain water etc. I remove them each year and replace if they are getting fouled otherwise I just re gap em and re install with a bit of marine grease on the threads...
