Welcome! Nice looking boat (and lake house)! As far as posting pictures, it is possible to do so using Flickr but you should probably search for a post on this forum that specifically has "how to" instructions. |

Welcome to the website and congrats on the new boat, looks great! We bought our Cobalt this spring from the original owner in western Maryland who exclusively used it on Deep Creek Lake. Seems like a great lake. We wanted to explore the lake more during the sea trail but it was 40 degrees and we had an entire day of driving ahead of us. Seems you accomplished posting pictures. For the owners manual, I would suggest going with the closest years before and/or after. The manuals are pretty generic anyway. Happy boating! |

I was able to get an owners manual by filling out the contact form under the Customer Service link on the FW website. This was when they were redesigning their site, so they didn't have any manuals up at that time. I'm not sure why they don't have your year listed on the site. |

Beautiful boat!! One thing though your water temp looks a bit high to me, I blew up that pic and it looks like its reading about 200*F...if the boat has a 160* 'stat it should max out at about 175* or so. Might want to keep an eye on that. |

Thanks for all the replies and compliments! I had the boat out on the Monongahela River for the last time today. Winterizing begins soon here in southwestern Pennsylvania. Lou - I watched the temp all day today. 175 was steady all day except at WOT and the it went about halfway between the 175 and 220 mark on the gauge like in the above picture.... how do I tell what temp thermostat I have? Next question: winterizing.... this is my first boat. I'm starting the forum/web/YouTube search now. Any quick links from anyone? |

You probably have a 160* stat, but that won't affect the max temp the engine will reach, it more so regulates the minimum temp that it will maintain. I think that it should be cooler than what it seems to be (about 200*F). You might want to look at the impeller to make sure its in good shape. A boat that new should not have corrosion in the exhaust risers but it is possible. The best thing you can do is pick up a Mercruiser factory shop manual for your engine package. It is the best way to learn basic maintenance and making sure all the drains are adequately drained. This is important because if you miss one drain, you will have freeze damage. The basic principles are that you need to get all the raw water out, of the engine, exhaust manifolds and engine mounted impeller if so equipped. I do back fill with -100 antifreeze to reduce corrosion but this is optional. Whatever you do, DO NOT use the suck up the A/F kits with the winterizing tank. That can cause a cracked block if you do not drain the block before hand and the thermostat does not open all the way long enough to get all the raw water out. |
