OK I am going to admit defeat here... I have a 2009 h240 with a 5.7gx1 Volvo Penta engine and I can not find the power trip pump. I am trying to install a transom trim switch (merc) unit that I am told will work. But for the life of me I can not find the pump. I have always had mercruisers and the pump was in plain site. Can anyone help me out? Thanks! |

It's on (or inside) the transom mount itself. Not inside the boat in the usual place. |

Thank you! I spent 6 hours on a 45 minute project but I got it done. Maybe I can help a few others with what I learned. I used a Quicksilver Transom Mount Trim Kit # 87 815200A02. The cost was around $60.00 and I ordered it from a Four Winns dealer. The Mercury Marine switch was plug and play with no problem. The connection was located behind the engine on a shelf just below the ski tow mounting. You need to borrow someone's 10 year old to be small enough to get to it. The Transom kit comes with good instructions and a nice template for cutting the 3/4 hole. You want to use a Forstner bit to do the cutting on the gel coat and fiberglass. You will need some 3M 4200 on hand to seal the edges of the hole to prevent leaks. I will post some pictures if I can figure out how? |
