I am thinking of installing a remote at my swim platform, and was hoping someone out there has one with pics. I did this on my last boat, and loved it. However, with the 210, there is not a convenient place protected from the weather. A thought is under my ladder and hatch on the swim platform. This would be accesible while swimming, yet protected from the weather and accidental kicking when stored. Does someone have the diameter of this remote. My stereo is the CMD-4A, and the applicable remote would be the CMRC1-BSS. Thanks in advance. |

Although, while swimming with the ladder down, you probably will close the cover so it won't be ready to fall and chop fingers off. Thus, covering the remote. I'll look at mine some more tomorrow (WHILE AT THE LAKE!) to see if there is a better alternative for us. |

You do not want the remote mounted horizontally as it would allow water to penetrate and remain - doesn't do much for drainage. Find a place protected by the cover and out of UV harm... and as vertical as you can get it. You might look for a handheld wireless remote also? Sometimes those can be just as good. |

Wow! After only 3 months..... With the curvature of the rear area, I just don't see a good spot adjacent to the platform. I don't know yet how low my hull sits either. I hope to spend some time out over Mem day weekend to get the gears turning. Afterall, how much should I spend on the boat BEFORE I EVER put it in the water!!! |

Sorry I could log in for 6 months, and then I had to make a new login. I had to have a backer made from seaboard so it wouldnt leak. |

The remotes are designed to be installed in the open, exposed to the elements. I'd only worry about making sure it was installed on a vertical section to avoid water pooling on it, or inside because of that. There are ways to put a bezel behind a round gauge to make it fit on a curved surface. I believe several companies sell bezels for boats, often in all sorts of colors and materials (powder coat, paint, chrome, anodized, etc). You'd probably have to get one of those bezels, grind it down to fit the appropriate curve and then install the remote. |

One other thing to consider is putting it where txjole2's is and also making sure it is high up enough so that it will be underneath the cockpit cover. Mine was placed just right, with the cockpit cover just barely covering it but still low enough to reach from the water. Don't have easy access to measure mine for you, sorry. I'll try to remember to get a pic for you next time I'm at the lake. |

Yup, I'm running into that and the clips for the cover getting in the way. I'll just need to get the measurements (protrusion, and diameter) and see if it will fit OK under the ladder/lid. Step #1. Get boat into water Step #2. Get all the cool electronic and lighting doodads I can. Step #3. Reapeat Step #1 and #2 as needed. |

I couldnt get mine under the cover. I was told by my stereo guy, that only does marine, that it will hold up just fine in the Texas sun. He said he has installed them in the past with no custom bezel and they did leak. |
