Nice Boat.

Welcome to the forum.

Les Cheneaux is a Beautiful area. I'm just a ways north of you in Barbeau on the St. Marys River.

Thanks for the welcome!!

Its nice to see another Yooper on the site. St. Mary's River is a beautiful place I've heard. We plan to visit this summer.

The cottage and boating is all new to us this year. In fact we were trying to find a boat that could handle the Great Lakes waves but also handle water sports. We hope we found that in our 2000 Horizon 230/240. It's a Big Block so if we run into bad weather on the way back from Mackinac Island we can get home in a hurry.

I'm looking forward to using the forum for all the trade secrets to maintain these beauties.

Looks new! Does it have an enclosed head compartment too?

yes, the enclosed head is a nice feature especially for the area we plan to boat ( Michigan's Great Lakes )

We weren't sure about the big block, 310 hp since we didn't read much about it on this forum. It's probably overkill for this boat, but we'd rather have too much I guess.

Working on a longer catch for the glove compartment latch. Any ideas? Maybe I'll make a new thread for this question.

The boat does look pretty new at 350hours, the previous owners took good care of it. I have a couple of vinyl snags to fix and plan to put in new carpet down the road.

Nice boat! We have a 1993 H190 (21 ft) that we use in the West/North MI area a lot. Spent a long weekend in Les Cheneaux Islands area last fall and just loved it! So much to explore. Took a trip to the Island also. Got caught in a downpour on the way. Thankful for full camper canvas. You will enjoy your 230. Four Winns ride so nice in the water. Enjoy!

We haven't played around with it yet, but we do have this clear plastic that zips and snaps on to the bimini. I guess we'll make sure to have that when we venture to Mackinac. What is a full camper canvas? is that different than a large bimini?

Congratulations! You're not going to regret having that big block in that boat. Have fun and be safe!

You're right. We're glad we bought the big block. We were out boating and from no where this huge black cloud appeared. The temperature dropped about 20 degrees and the winds picked up. Trees were bending over in the wind, so we knew we had to beat the storm home. We opened it up and made it back before the rain came. Close one.

We love the boat, and it cuts through the wake like butter. i feel like we're on a hovercraft the way it glides over the water.
