Hi All,

I have a 2008 H200 with a SX-A drive unit. My trim stopped working last week, and after pulling her out, we found that the trim cylinders are leaking fluid. The pump still works, and after refilling the reservoir, the trim is working again. Both the volvo penta dealer as well as a local hydralic repair shop both said the cylinders are unrepairable, and to purchase new ones. I have seen the repair kits on ebay, however I am wondering if any one else has had this problem, and how difficult the repair was. Most of the instructions I have read show the use of a spanner wrench to get the caps off, however I don't see where the pins would align. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jay

Are they leaking around the end caps or around the hose fittings? Can you post some pics?

Hi,

Here's is a picture of the leak, coming from where the cylinder rod enters the cap.

I'm less familiar with the post-2006 VP drives, but I just had a look at some videos of the same drive. Apparently they don't have the same type of end caps (requiring a spanner wrench) that the prior generation did. It looks like the seal itself is exposed. So, the rebuild kits you're seeing on eBay are probably for the earlier generation drives. Whether the same kit works for your generation too, I don't know.

The previous generation's end caps are visible here:
