Anyone done a diy hot water shower on their horizon? I'm thinking simple takeoff line with a turn valve just to warm up a wetsuit in the shoulder seasons for water skiing. Wondering how involved it needs to be.

thanks...only interested in hot water.....no need to wash feet or anything..just stay warm.

thinking it would be pretty easy to tap off one of the hoses and modulate between cold and hot but assume somebody has done the leg work already....don't need or want it to look fancy or professional at this time

Jon, I saw in a Google search where someone replaced an engine block drain with a hose barb, hose, and sprayer (garden nozzle or???). You would probably want to add a shut-off valve at or near the engine in case the hose or sprayer leaks. The plumbing parts should be available at your home center or hardware store.

Keep in mind that the engine needs to be running to use the system, and the water could be hot enough to scald. The engine water temp can be 165 deg F or so.

yea running engine is what I was planning, the anti-burning issue is what concerns me. I know through mishaps in the past the water pump puts out plenty of pressure...but to do it right I need some sort of mix valve..not a high priority just something I was thinking about between winterization in a few weeks and summerization next year.

You might look at the hose from the raw water pump to the engine as a cold water source. It might mean cutting the hose and installing a fitting if you can't tap in somewhere else. This would also mean 2 valves or a single handle hot/cold valve to adjust temp.

Considered one of those 20l, solar hot water bladders that you leave in the sun?
