Hello,

I just picked up a 2005 H230 love the boat but getting it back on the trailer is hassle. I have been on boats most of my life and this is my second FW. When retrieving the boat, it doesn’t seem to matter how far in the water the trailer is, I can’t pull it up within 10’ of the winch. I have tried backing in deep where the stern will swing around and shallow with the tip of the front bunks out of the water. It has the original FW trailer and everything is in good shape. Has anyone else had difficulty getting their H230/240 back on the trailer?

What are the symptoms you are having, is it stopping with a hard hit or just slowly not going up? Do you power on or pull by hand?

I back in until my trailer's fender is submerged except for the highest point which is right at the surface. In other words, I back in until the trailer's front tire is completely submerged plus 2 or 3 inches.

This works for me at ramps that are steep, average, or shallow slope (although at shallow ramps, the back tires of the vehicle might be right to the water).

I mostly power-on if it doesn't seem to be an environmental concern at that ramp. Otherwise I winch it up.

The only symptom is that it stops on the bunks much earlier than I think it should. I can try backing further in but I already to the point where I can't get the winch line on the boat without getting wet.

As much as I hate power loading, I pretty much always have to.

I have the same problem here in Ohio with all the shallow water ramps here.

My feet & ankles are always under water to winch the final 1.5'-2'.

If backed any further, the guide bunks would be submerged and the wife would never hit the trailer square.
