It will help if you post the year, engine/drive info
drt1964
I am assuming you mean the engine trim button, not trim tab

Button could be bad
Bad relay ?
Bad wire?

On my rinker, it had a mercruiser. From the shifter (trim button was mounted there), there was, I believe, a bundle of 4 wires that had a connector about 3 feet aft as the wires headed to the trim pump. I unplugged That and tested if the trim button was making connections. They weren’t, it was bad in the throttle.... it was Memorial Day weekend, so, I could Jumper out the cable going to the pump to make it go up and down.... I had 4wires, because there was a trailer button also, you may have only 3.... purple/green/red were the ones I think, also a blue was there.... all from memory

Good luck and welcome to the forum!
