Just talked to my dealer today and found out my new 240H has a build date of March 28th. Anyone know about how long after that date is normal for delivery this time of year? Obviously I'm very excited to get the new toy!!

This site has been fantastic in helping me decide on Four Winns in general and a 240H in particular. Keep up the good info. Also, many thanks to John Valich in helping me overcome a tech issue in getting on the board. Seems like a great guy.

Yeah, that's what we say about him too, when we know he's watching.

Build time is 4-5 days. Delivery after that depends on where it's going and how many other boats are going the same direction. This time of year it shouldn't take long - anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks, probably somewhere in between.

Great choice 8)

Welcome aboard! I have a long story on build date and delivery but my latest boat, (H260) it took exactly 20 days after the build date and showing up to the dealer in East Coast. (Please note that they will not deliver on weekend) You should see your boat by late April for sure. There are a bunch of 240 owners (and ex 240 owners such as me) in this forum and you came to the right place…. The questions we have to ask are:
- Color /stripe of your boat?
- Which Engine/Drive did you choose for your boat?
- What options did you get on your boat?
- Where you boat?

And the most importantly we need “Pictures” when you get a boat.

Let’s have a good season

FYI, I went through this process last spring. We had a similar build date lined up- I think it was actually March 13, 2007. Due to delays caused by back-ordered parts, the boat was not delivered to my dealer until a few days before Memorial Day Weekend.

Not saying it is going to happen, just preparing you for the possibility that delays could occur that are beyond anyone's control. Hopefully you'll be fine and all will work out as planned.

Welcome to the board and, as required initiation, post some pics when you get it!

Welcome to the 240 Club! Always glad to see a new member!

What's the configuration/options that you went with on your 240?

With a build date in late March - I can't imagine that Four Winns wouldn't be stocking the shelves with all the parts & peices. But there could always be delays.

March 28 build... You might be able to take delivery from your Dealer on April 18! Can you get a "delivery" on the books and scheduled - or are you at the mercy of your dealer saying "your boat is ready, NOW you can come pick it up"?

If your dealer is local - you might ask to get a call when the truck is there...and be a bystander in the unloading/unwrapping of your new toy!

I asked mine to take a few photos for me, since I knew I wouldn't be able to be there. Kinda neat to see it that way.

Thanks for the welcome fellas.

Regarding options and specs...the color will be like Mike's, two-tone Navy but will have the new silver/driftwood graphics. Thought the driftwood accent would look good with the color of the helm and seats. It has most of the standard options plus table with both mounts, dual batteries, docking lights, filler cushions, pump-out head, upgraded sound, mooring cover, ski pylon, steering wheel upgrade, and the totally useless under swim platform lighting....my son thought that would really be cool. Power is the 320hp 5.7 dp.
I had originally included the aft facing transom speakers which are new for 2008 but actually cancelled them after I saw a picture on the web. Not only, imho, are they ugly, but I have no idea how you would keep water from accumulating in them since they point almost straight up. Crownline, with their "social swim platform", has done a far superior job of incorporating rear facing speakers into the overall design.

I looked at Chaparral and Crownline(trading in a 2005 lx210) very seriously as the other options along with Four Winns. All three brands have dealers with excellent service reputations in my area...obviously very important...and each had quality and features that set them apart. In the end it just seemed like the Four Winns 240 had more to offer as an overall package.

The only bit of remorse I have felt since the order was the decision to order the Volvo power unit and hopefully I will be proven wrong. Concern number one is that there are very few authorized servicing dealers here in the midwest versus Mercury. And it seems Volvo is loosing a little more ground as the boat manufacturers align themselves with one or the other companies, ie. Crownline eliminating Volvo as an option in 2008. Also, I am very concerned about all of the corrosion issues I have seen and heard discussed on this board and others. I know Volvo has had a great past reputation for reliability and service after the sale...just hope that the future brings more of the same.

bluesky, where is "your area"? Care to be more specific than "the midwest?" Just curious.

Paul T- the boat will be moored at Lake Springfield in central Illinois. Am hoping to take a trip this summer to Table Rock Lake outside of Branson. Any recomendations on places to stay in that area?

bluesky - fear not with your decision to go Volvo.

Merc owners are just Volvo wanna-be's. :D

(totally kidding, please don't start a riot)

The 5.7 GXI package is top notch on the H240. THe only other package I would have considered was the 6.2 with DTS for me. But not for the couple thousand dollars more.

You did fine with your choice! That boat is going to be a beauty!

Bluesky, you optioned your boat just about exactly the same as mine. You'll love it.

I agree those other brands are strong contenders, but I don't think any of them come close on things like storage space, which becomes very important very quickly out on the water.

I still believe the corrosion issues are isolated, although that's little consolation to anyone who has them. Do have a discussion with your dealer about anodes and make sure you get the best ones for your waters. It's unlikely that your dealer will even bring it up, and when you do, they may not know as much about the issue as you will if you just read the recent threads here. Your boat will come with ACPS. Verify that it's wired straight to one of the batteries.

I agree with you about the "back firing" speakers. I actually think they look kinda cool, but they're a water trap waiting to happen. With kids getting in and out of the water all the time, that area of the boat tends to get very wet.

We love Table Rock and you won't regret making the trip. Let me know if I can offer any advice on that.

Well, it only took me about one year to take pictures and put them up on photobucket. I did a few upgrades with the sound system, carpeting etc. which you will be able to see and understand if you read the comments. http://s579.photobucket.com/albums/ss232/fourwinnsh240/
