Damn, I automatically assumed that the Corsa was switchable - through side or outdrive. However I realized there are a number of different types of the Corsa exhaust and a couple of them are switchable.
So for those of you with the SS or Corsa exhaust on thier Horizons can you tell me - are they switchable or not. I really love the sound but I would want to be able to go quiet in the evenings or in the narrows.

The FW factory option is Quick & Quiet which switches between through-hull and through-drive. Many are disappointed to learn that when switched to "quiet," the dampers in the through-hull don't close up completely tight, so you still get a bit of noise out the sides.

Oh, phew. Thanks. I ordered the quick and quiet (still a hot rodder at heart) but I can be obnoxious enough all on my own - I didn't want my new boat to add to it - aggrivate my neighbors when they are trying to get thier kids to sleep at night. I get that toys like those are gimmicky and require constant maintenance to keep them working as expected. I am OK with that. I have some friends that run Bajas and the like and you can hear em coming a long way away. Always. I just don't want to be that guy. Not all the time :)

Well, not to be redundant, but... bless you.

I love the sound (at a distance), but would NOT want to hear it all the time, and can't imagine listening to it constantly on my own boat.

It's really not that loud in the boat. Especially when at idle. Now when that little tach needle passes 3K, different story altogether.

Mike's dead on about the "quiet" function not being quiet. Mine doesnt close up and it still rumbles enough ton get head turning when idling through marinas

Wow, yours is a little iffy already? Your 220 is pretty much new is it not? Hmmmm - may be the case that a little reworking will be necessary - beefier solonoids or a reworked diverter. I was assuming that it would be something that would require attention every season or two not something you had to live with right from the get-go. Well, thankfully I am in the marine industry and have access to a number of talented people who would be more than happy to exchange some expertise for a drag around the pond and some brew. Are we talking Baja loud?

Nah, it's not like that. They just don't seal up completely.

Yeah, mine tend to have a little leakage of exhaust and sound out the sides but its very muffled. Hard to described. Almost like its running on 1 cylinder. Actually, when you give it just a little throttle it seems to almost disappear with the additional back pressure. But maybe its just the other noises drowning it out. When at cruising speed it sounds just like any other boat without the option.

I agree Cincy...mine is loudest at idle speed for some reason...cruising in the quiet mode is very quiet but idling on quiet mode is still pretty throaty. Its definetly not baja loud though

My 240 has the quick and quiet Corsa exhaust. It works well switching back and forth but in the "quiet" setting it does sound "throaty" as my Lake Norman Marina salesman called it. I like the sound, it is not loud, but definitely more sound than the same engine without the Corsa option. :D

Perhaps the sound we hear is an echo coming down the exhaust hose from the elbow. Has anyone smelt/fet actual exhaust gases while in quiet mode?

Those solonoids are stout. It sounds like someone is hitting your engine with a hammer when you push the button.

I was a little surprised at how abrupt they operate.

When mine are closed I will still see a little steam coming out.

Could be cold water hitting a hot flapper.
