We purchased our first boat last year, a 2007 H190 and are in love with it. Nice to find a Four Winns forum. We are in the Coachella Valley portion of California and do most of our boating at Lake Havasu, Parker Strip and Lake Perris. I am getting the windows tinted and was curious if anyone else has had this done? The individual tinting the windows said the the curvature makes it extremely difficult. He spent 4 hours tonight just tinting the two curved bow windows (will finish in the morning...if he shows up... )We are going to Parker strip this weekend. When we return I will post photos of the tinted windows.

Great looking boat, and great pic! I can believe that windshield is tough to tint, but it ought to look great once it's done.

I'm afraid I can't be of any help regarding your tint but am extremely interested in hearing how it turns out. This is the route I had planned to take as soon as I take delivery but I planned to either powder paint the frame black (have a guy) or have it polished.
The only complication I see happening is the possibility of film not available in the length I need. After seeing an H200 at a boatshow with what I later discovered must have been an old overstock windshield (they used to put on up untill 05 I hear) and not seeing it since - I did some asking around. Point is mine should have a one-piece glass (a spare was unearthed at the factory) from the walk through all the way down the side with no supports.
Everyone including the factory either had no idea what I was talking about or said it couldn't be done anymore but my dealer knew exactly what I was referring to and pulled some strings (this guy KNOWS his product).
As far a making the curve, I have my doubts that will be too much of an issue if you are going to a knowledgable shop - think of all the crazy car glass that has been tinted - Corvette, Trans am and Camaro Rear Bubbles come to mind. Might just be a real pain to get at considering the dash clearance and rake of the glass - remember nobody really tints thier windshield so the shops are probably not used to trying to work those tight edges. Might make it a lot easier if the glass was removed but I am unsure how hard it is to get the frame apart & off.
NEway - long story short I, I really want to see how you made out since I will only be a month or two behind you. Pictures please?

Given that the boat is completely exposed to sun from 360 degrees, what's the point of tinting the strips of windows?

For an enclosed cabin on a sedan bridge boat, sure, it makes a big difference in reflecting heat and easing the load on the air conditioning.

But for a bowrider? Seems like all you're accomplishing is dramatically reducing your ability to see the water ahead of you when in a seated position. What's the point?

LOVE IT! What % tint was used do you know? I am going to do it also but I think I want it a little lighter - like 50% or something. Looks sharp though.

It does look sharp. Matches up with the rest of the boat real nice. As I recall factory tinting is available as an option on the lower profile SS windshields. I imagine night cruising is not much of an issue, just have to keep ones eyes above the level of the windshield.

Looks sweet! Are there any coast guard regulations or laws regarding tinting of the forward facing areas of a winshield (similar to a car)?

Mainly did it for looks. It actually looks a little lighter in the sun. The tint is 15%. Not sure about "Puddle Pirate" regulations......(sorry Coasties....ex U.S.N. Sailor)

I like it, it looks nice. I think that's the main benefit of it anyway......looks. Only concern may be after several years you may have to have it redone. Think of tint applied to the rear window of a hatchback, trans am, camaro, in the day....at some point it will usually bubble. It may take 5 or 10 years though depending on how much it's out in the sun.

I am also trying to tint the glass on my boat [2007 H200] my installer tried putting the tint on [20%] but was having problems with the glass up against the dash, as he has to use a heat gun and doesn't want to melt anything on the dash. Did your installer take the glass out when they tinted your glass? If so did he take the top of the windshield casing off and slide the glass out? By the way I know this is not functional but it looks very cooool and I would like to see a pic of your boat out in the sun, looks great!!!
