Have been lurking around this board for a while and finally made the move from a 180 to a 220. Purchased a brand new leftover red 2007 220 powered by a 5.7 Gi/SX. Leaving this Thursday for NH to pick it up on Friday. The dealer is fantastic and this was the main reason I am driving 8 hours each way to go get the boat. Can't wait to have the boat home and better yet in the water but will have to wait until the lake cleans up a bit. Probably should change my Username as well but I will figure that out later.

Only one photo so far taken by the dealer:

law950,

How do you find your boat gets out of the hole with the 5.7 Gi?

I was looking at a 5.7 Gi/DP but there was quite a premium to pay.

What kind of top end speed do you see on your boat?

I like the black better than red but the price was right and supply was limited.

I find that the 5.7 Gi/SX does a very good job out of the hole. I have taken several wake boarding pals out on my boat and they have all commented on how well my boat does pulling them out.....

When I was first looking, I also considered the DP, but decided to go with SX to save a few bucks...I suppose the DP gives you better slow speed control, and possibly better tracking...and maybe even a better hole shot....but so far....I am plenty happy with what I went with.

As for top end speed, I have played with the throttle several times...with just me and one passenger, and with a full load on board. My top speed with me + 1 is around 45 - 50 mph at around 4300 - 4500 rpm's...

And by the way...the red looks very cool....

H180 -- NICE ride! I really love that red color - but be sure you keep a good coat of wax on it.

I think you'll be impressed with the SX drive on that boat - plus you can change props very easily to change the style of ride.

You bought your boat in NH? Another happy Winnisquam customer?

Very nice! Love the red. Remember that you can always change the bottom end of the drive to a DP later if you want.

I love Red!... My boat is also coming out from NH and heading to Thousands Island area in summer months. It is not too far from Kingston. As far as dealer goes I do not see anyone who is more dedicated to FW. and their service than these guys in New England so you will be a very happy FW. owner.

I hope to see you around this summer!

Thanks for the welcome and compliments.

Ryan and Matt at Winnisquam have been great and I expect their after sales service to be exceptional as well. Low pressure sales and a willingness to serve the customer was a refreshing change from other dealers I dealt with.

About the red - Will be dusting off a copy of the Karate Kid to get the "Wax On - Wax Off" technique just right. I suppose it is way better than "Paint the Fence".

Off to work.

Hey! Maybe we should have a former New Hampshire boat reunion!!!! I too bought my boat from NH last fall (brokerage marina not the same dealer). That red is real nice. when are you going to pick her up? Need a sidekick? Be sure to take some extra dough with you so you can buy a bunch of goodies tax free!

The three of us (H180, Flying Sushi) will have to meet up this summer. Big Sandy or Potter's Beach on a nice Sunday afternoon perhaps? Anybody else from this neck of the woods?

Where will you be boating with her?

Do you need any advice on the in & outs of the importation process? Just ask I can fill you in.

Looking forward to seeing you out on the water this year.

By the way, you're best bet is to cross at Sherbrooke (6 hrs you'll be there) But you should cross back into Ontario at Ogdensburg. This way you pay all the taxes up front and won't get hit with them later when you register the boat.

WINNISQUAM RULES! Yeah, I'm another closet Satisfied Winnisquam Customer. If it wasn't so far to drive I would be up for the Winnisquam Meet - those guys have been great. Seems as though a lot of people here ended up at thier showroom; my experiance so far tells me it is with good reason.
Steve, love the red - in the pic she looks awesome. Maybe I should have opted for the red color band over the black . . . dammit, I have to stay off these boards. Far too much - oh I should have got that :? At least there will be one less boat to distract me when I arrive to pick up mine!
Really looking forward to hearing how your sea trial and trip back go, I will only be a few weeks behind you - they started the build on mine yesterday I hear.
Millhaven, I thought GST and PST could be paid (were expected to be paid) at the border no matter where you cross. I intended to cross at Woodstock/Houlton. Any other tips you might know of? That is besides stashing some cash for the tax free blitz (admiral was way ahead of me and I suspect I will be trailering back a boat-load of wardrobe now - I'm being watched :| )

You guys all talk about your "long" drives down to New Hampshire! pssshhh - I'm 3000+ miles from them!

If there's a NH meet&greet - keep me posted - as I might make the trip out just to meet everyone!

Beauty of a boat Steve, looks awesome. Of course, I'm kinda partial to red too

If you guys decide on a meet, keep us posted! It would be about a 5 hour ride from North Bay, but that would be lots of fun!

Here is how my importation went! It was really easy.
We crossed into the U.S. with our money order and a copy of all the email correspondence we had as back up for proof of why we were carying over the $10,000 limit. After you examine the boat and pay up, you need to make sure that the marina gives you two receipts. (Maybe this can be pre-arranged) One is for the boat and the other is for the trailer. This is very important or else you will be told you can only bring the boat across the border (kind of hard on the hull without the trailer). Get the old New Hampshire title for the trailer. Also make sure you notify your insurance company and get a temporary plate from the dealer. If possible, you should forward the title to your point of entry (U.S Customs so they can check to make sure the trailer isn't stolen, has liens on it or ???) atleast 72 hours before you get there. I did not do this and got through and so have others but you never know. A car/truck importation definitely requires this. When you get to the border, just tell them you bought a boat. The officer will tell you to pull over there (pointing to the canopies) and take your paperwork inside. Once inside, the officers will examine your receipts make you pay PST on the boat and GST on the lot. They will also step outside and verify the VIN's. At that point have them fill out the RIV paperwork (registrar of Imported vehicles). Pay another approxiamtely $210. Now you can drive home. Once home you will receive some forms from RIV in the mail. Take the trailer to your nearest Canadian Tire so they can fill out the forms. Take these forms to the Ministry of Transportation office /Licence bureau along with your receipt for the trailer and get your Ontario registration/plates and now pay the PST on your trailer value. Take the boat receipt and your importation papers from the border to any Service Canada office and they will register your boat and issue you a number. The boat and trailer is now legally in Canada. Sounds complicated but not really that bad.

PS. I have heard that if you bring it in through a province you are not resident in that they will not charge you any provincial tax. But, when you go to Service Canada they will ask for proof you have paid the taxes so I assume if you didn't they will notify the Provincial authorities who will track you down and collect their "share". A friend of my buddy received a invoice 18 months after importing a boat that he had since sold and was now liable for the original PST.

Any clarifications required?
