Hi all, first time using this great forum. I have attached below a couple of photos of the brackets on my gas tank. They don't seem the greatest to me (see how they are bending back) I am half scared one of these times taking off with a full tank that they are going to let go and the tank will slide back into the engine. The 2 brackets are mearly screwed into the figerglass with 2 screws each with no backing plate or anything. Just wondering if other 220 owners out there had brackets that looked the same (i.e. pulling away from the side wall like mine). I did however do a full summer of boating last year and kept my eye on them and they have not gotten any worse.

Any feedback greatly appreciated - BTW the boat is a 2006 model

PS. I also have a prop question thinking of going with a Piranha Propeller - I will post under Engine, Drive, Prop section.

Thanks again,

Rodney

Hi Rodney, and welcome.

Those brackets are the normal ones used by FW for all the tanks in all the Horizons (fuel and water both). But you're right, those don't look good. They obviously are being stressed and are not going to keep holding on forever. I'd either get some backing behind those screws if possible, or even put a partition behind the tank. I thought partitions were the norm - my 240 has one.

Mine didn't look that bad, but mine were installed so that my tank had shifted and cut off the drain hose for my ski locker. Before get too carried away with adding bracing, I'd verify that the ski locker drains first. Good luck. If your rig is under warranty, I'd have your dealer take care of this issue sooner than later.
