Hey guys, just began to unwinterize my 190. I've got the Volvo 4.3 GL. Anyway, hooked up to my muffs, started the motor, and water going everywhere! I checked all my manifold plugs and all are fine. This leak looks like it is coming from the driver side motor mount bolts as strange as that seems. Hoses all checked out ok as well. From what I can tell, it is just water, and no oil mixed in so i'm hoping this isn't one of those "catastrophic" problems. This boat stays in a garage in Western Kentucky. It did stay extremely cold here for a pretty long period of time. Do some gaskets dry out during the winter, and if so if I run the motor for a while is there a chance it will seal back up? I know that used to work with some of my motorcycles. I'm pretty much just pulling at straws here! Thanks!!!!

Are you sure you had all the water out of it? If so, it seems to me like it would have to come from a hose somewhere.

I am fairly certain I had all of the water out. Of course, sometimes I am sure a little gets caught in there. This isn't just a little leak either. So much water is running from underneath this motor mount that the exhaust is barely spitting any back out

Im going to say cracked block or bad freeze plug. Did u winterize with antifreeze?

Yeah, I used antifreeze. That's why this is baffling to me. I tell you what though, I would almost bet it is a freeze plug before the block. There is just too much water coming out at once. I've had an experience with a cracked block before and it was more of a "spewing" thing. Guess I get to get my flashlight and lay on my head for about an hour looking for these plugs!

Yeah, I didn't think of a freeze plug. That's about the only thing that would make sense, based on where you're seeing the water.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their input. I went ahead and bit the bullet and took it to the shop. Everyone cross your fingers that it is just a freeze plug!!!!!!!

Wondering what the outcome of this was ?

Just pushed out a freeze plug which is right under the right motor mount. THANK GOODNESS!!

how hard to replace freeze plugs.. just wondering...

The funny thing about this situation is it takes litteraly 30 seconds to tamp a freeze plug back in. Unfortunately, it takes 2 hours to hoist a motor and pull out the motor mounts, so I ended up getting charged 3 hours labor for a 30 second job!!! Tell you what though, I'm thankful the shop is as honest as they are, because they could have tried to tell me anything. I still have no idea how this even occured since it was properly winterized, but I guess some questions will always go unanswered.
