Im gonna grab some at lunch...I've never bought fuses for the boat, or looked at them and sime the boat is 1200 miles away I dont think I can stop by. Which one is it:

If they use blade fuses, are they the large or small ones.

Last weekend when I took the boat out for the first time, I turned the blower on at the ramp and it ran for about 5 minutes than just stopped. I didnt notice it until I was on the water and didnt feel like jacking with it since it was the first trip of the season and I wasnt going to let anything ruin it. So of course I forgot about after I loaded it up and now Im in Cali and the boats in TX and I cant mess with it. I want to take it out tomorrow night when I get home but I really hate knowing something is not working. Im assuming I just popped a fuse and if so I can take care of it at the ramp but thought what if it was something else...and what if it has happened to one of you guys. So has anyone had this happen?? |

I keep a box of #5 fuses because I blow one about every third outing. I had a roller swamp my swim platform once and it popped a fuse that second. Ever since then I cant keep them from blowing. Guess I really havent tryed to fix the problem other then sticking a new fuse in. |

Had same problem last year. Boat was less than one month old and started blowing fuses on blower. Unofficially was recommended by Four Winns dealer to use 7.5 amp up from 5 amp. No problems since. |

Happened on my first outing. 5amp. Now there's a ziplock bag in my glove compartment with an assortment of fuses including a 60 amp for the Kicker 700.5. |

Yep, the large blades. Well, not the Max blades, but the ones which are the original sized blades before they came out with the mini's. Ok, someone should probably state the obvious. I keep a selection of spare fuses on board too, but if you keep blowing fuses, you need to find out why. Having something which is drawing more current than its supposed to on a boat is a recipe for "not good." |

I don't disagree with anything that's already been said. Just wanted to add that in my experience, blowers will make a horrible racket long before they go completely. Bearings? I dunno, but I replaced two in my old Maxum. Having said that, it was because of noise or complete failure, rather than a bown fuse. I agree with Mike230, try to find out why the fuse blew - if the blower isn't blown, there's a short on the hot side somewhere between the blower and the fuse. |

I checked my fuse and it keeps popping when I turn on the blower switch. Never happened before. I am doing some maintenance this weekend. Anyone have a picture of the blower motor and it's location? Thanks |

Assuming you have big flexible ducts in your engine compartment, just follow those. The blowers are inline with the ducts. Otherwise they (or it) should be near the vents in the rear deck. |

generally speaking - open the engine cover, and look toward the very back....the blower will be were you cant see it and damn sure out of reach. Hope that helps, cuz that is normally the place all boat makers put something that could be mounted somewhere that is easily accessible. If your boat is like mine the in/out vents are at the rear of the boat under the rear portion of the sundeck. Hopefully, if water got in there it has had a chance to dry out and your problem over. Change the fuse and if it fails again then you need to do some exploring. |

Any reason why the fuse keeps popping? Water in blower or the wire has a break? Going to be a pain to trace that wire! |
