Post subject:  2002 170 Horizon Trim Gauge Problem

We have a 2002 170 Horizon with the Volvo 4.3 and the trim gauge has been acting up. When you turn the steering wheel to the left the gauge goes all over the place. When you turn to the right it works like it is suppose to. Same goes for when you are crusing straight. I am guessing there is a wire rubbing somewhere? I am not sure where to look. I looked at the back of the gauge and at all of the wires before they go into the side of the boat. Everything looks good there. Any ideas?

Trinm guages are a notorious problem. The sender is on the right side of the traamsom shield. Check there see if it's loose.

This has just starting happening on my boat too. I haven't had time to check it out yet. I was under the dash replacing a fuse and figured that I move something where it shouldn't be. I pulled the new fuse that I had just installed but the trim gauge was still messed up. Have you found anything? My oil pressure gauge has always been flaky. It will look fine, and then when up to cruising rpms, it will jump up and down. My mechanic says the pressure checks out fine, it's the gauge that's wacked. Do the replacement gauges fix all this? Are the two panels plug compatible (i.e. and easy swap)?
