I've been reading alot on another board about these. alot of guys on the BOC board rave about them. Did a search here & didn't find alot of people here using them. Any additional info/input would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I still can't get my pics to resize using the different downloads I got from here UURRGGG!

Use Flickr to host your pix. It will automatically resize them for you.

You dont generally dont see them on boat of our size. Normally the trim can drop the nose just fine. I did see a set of K planes on a Crownline 225 but it had a 525EFI big block.

I looked at them. My desire for them stemmed from the fact that with the Sunsport seating, passengers tend to settle in the cockpit. This leaves me without enough bow down adjustment at times. Unfortunately because of the stepped design of the hull at the stern, I found that the Smart tabs just aren't compatible. I'm tempted to try some sponsons, which were so popular on jet skiis some time ago. As things stand, I often have to request that a passenger of two move to the bow.

I found that the smart tabs were designed just for the boats in our range. From all I've read they seem to be a great improvement. Like others i just hesitate to be drilling into our new boat's hull  But I'm gonna sooner or later to install fish finder ( not that it'll help me catch those buggers  )

I think they are MARKETED for the smaller boat, but have yet to hear super raves about them, and after thinking about it have yet to see a set put on a boat owners second boat. The reason I dont see them being worth the transom hole and wiring is they drop what 3 inches. A "true" trim tab is made to drop 8" to 24". To me the small amount of drag 3" will produce would be about equal to leaving your ladder down.

No wiring they're completely self adjusting. Go to http://www.nauticusinc.com/ & check them out They claim to increase mph, lower plane speed, better turns. You're thinking about HYD actuated trim tabs. I'm looking at the SX vs cause they're not metal

I was hot to get the SX smart tabs last year, but I was told that they won't work right on Horizon hulls. It's something about the hull design having a curve to it that decreases time to plane. That curve prevents the smart tabs from being installed perpendicular to the planing hull. Talk to Nauticus, they'll tell you they've never installed them on a recent FW Horizon. Or better yet, send them an email with a pic of the stern in profile, so they can see and speak to compatibility with the hull transition.

Thanks Jim this was the kind of info I was looking for. Previous, seasoned FW owners experiences :D
