I have a sound coming from my engine that sounds like a rod knocking. It only happens when i'm cruising from one point to another and as I back off to slow the boat my oil pressure drops and the noise starts. If I take it push full throttle and then let off the oil pressure goes back up and the knocing stops.

I have checked my oil level and it is a hair from being above the full line. Has anyone seen this or heard of this problem that might know how I can fix it??

That doesn't sound good.
Oil pressure will drop at lower RPM, how much are we talking?
I'd take it in. You're still under warranty right?

Yes, still under warranty.

I keep and eye on my guage and it stays about half all the time but when it drops it drops down just below a quater.

I think he's got the 4.3 v6 in it, definitely take it in for Warranty, have you done your 20 hour service yet?

I've heard the pressure drop is a known (normal) thing with the 4.3. I'd be concerned too, but I wonder if there's something else going on that's making the noise (engine/drive misaligned?) and the engine is actually fine. I'm speculating only.

I have the 4.3 MPi.

I took the boat in and the mech took it out and said it was not making a noise. I have it back now and going to take my video recorder out with me and record it next time.

Also if you read the merc 3.0 run on thread the mech said that my 4.3 could be doing that and thats what I hear and he said it's normal.

I'm not mech as I work with IEDs and explosive but what hes telling me doesn't sound right.
