Anyone have a problem where the cockpit canvas meets teh bow canvas it leaks at the edges? Any fix out there for that?

Also does anyone else ever get dieseling after they shut down? Ive been told it can suck water back into the engine and thats certainly bad.....

Anyone thoughts?

Dieseling can definitely be bad, I'd get it looked at. Not sure on the water problem, except to say that the cockpit & bow covers aren't really meant to be 100% waterproof.

I have an old Maxim bow runner where water leaking through the camper canvas would find it's way into the glove box. I find it funny now, but back then it was a major irritation.

I highly recommend purchase of the oem mooring cover. No leaks, and a breeze to put on relative to the bow and cockpit covers.

In regard to the run on problem, I read in another thread that by running a higher octane fuel may help.

Definately using premium in mine stops the dieseling problem...

I had a period of dieseling last summer....upped the octane and the problem went away...

Good luck.

Last year, I had a dieseling problem and used higher octane to solve the problem. This spring I had a tune up done and so far the dieseling has not reappeared even using 87 octane. I figure the tune up has paid for itself in gas cost by now.

I had a bow and cockpit cover made for my old 88 200 Horizon a few years back and the way the canvas guy made it, the cockpit cover overlaps the bow cover where they meet and I have not had a problem with leaks in that area.
With regard to the dieseling or run on, yes you would want to get that stopped, an engine can suck water up the exhaust that way. I have always used 93 octane because that's all they sell at the marina I go to for gas and have never had any problems with run on or preignition. I'd contact the engine manufacturer to see if there have been any service bulletins on this. I recalling hearing it was common with Volvo 4.3s with the 2bbl carb in certain years. Things that can contribute to it are: idle speed too high, carbon build up from too much slow speed running and rich fuel mixture, and spark plugs of too hot a heat range. In some cases a combustion chamber cleaner like Chevron's Techron can clean up deposits and allow the engine to run on the octane it was designed to run on without dieseling or pinging.

I agree with everything said here. With my 3.0, I had a problem with dieseling last summer, which I cured by turning the idle down slightly. Easy fix that is also makes life easier on the driveline.

I found if running 3000 or higher rpm for a while then If I shut down it'll run on but let it idle /cool down for a couple of minutes no problem. Haven't tried higher octane.

Mine leaks from the afte bimini supports cutouts.Filled the aft cup holders & carpet gets wet.So I bought a real nice cover from Wally world on line for just under $100. Was real impressed with material & quality, it's actually trailerable but I don't use it.
