Hi guys,

First post, first time boat owner. My dad had a boat years ago so I know a LITTLE about them but not much. Have lots of questions, will search the forum first before I post any. Just wanted to say how surprised I was with the original manual, totally generic, it doesn't even tell me how to lift/lower the outdrive! Guess I'll figure it out, def need a good education before next boating season starts. Totally stoked, love the boat already!

F/W used to have generic manuals on their site, not sure if they still do, but you should post up what drive system you have, Merc Alpha or OMC Cobra, and see if you can find an engine owners manual from either company. That's going to have much more specific information than the generic F/W manual.

Sorry, it's an OMC Cobra. They gave me a nice service manual for that system, I'll take a look in there, maybe it has the info I'm looking for.

The service manual is a big thick book for doing repairs what you want is the OMC owners/operators manual.

OK next question. Looking to winterize the boat, I noticed the dipstick tube is threaded on the end, thinking for a fitting to suck the old oil out? Anyone know what thread/fitting I would need for this?

Garden hose female threaded fitting

I use one of these, just make sure that there is a gasket in the female fitting just like for your garden hose, and make sure its screwed on tight to maintain vacuum. It will suck all the oil out of the engine in about 5 min.
