Post subject:  Lubricants for 1995 190 Horizon

Hello all,
I have a 1995 190 Horizon with Engine OMC Cobra 502APHUE
I have 2 questions:

Does anyone have some oil filter part # for this engine? I cant seem to find this from Marine parts websites.

Gear oil. I have 80W90 Auto Gear oil from a prev project. Will this do?
Is marine Gear oil different?

Thanks

Yes the gear oil you got is fine.

Go get a oil filter for a 95 F-150 pickup.

I got a 3 liter I run a wix filter to a chevelle on it.

yep the filter is any filter for the Ford Windsor V8 series.

motor oil I like to use Merc/Quicksilver 25/40 it holds its viscosity well under the constant load of marine use
you can use Rotella or Delo 15W/40 as an alternate that is less expensive.

drive oil if you have the cone clutch unit with the hump on top of the top case then its just like a Volvo Penta SX and I'd use the VP gear oil to be on the safe side. Yes its expensive but some people have had trouble using generic gear oil with the cone clutch drives.
