I used to own a 230 Horizon and sold it last year for a Vista 248. I am kind of missing a boat to go out and ski on. The Vista will do it, but it sucks gas and throws a large wake. I know it's crazy, but I was thinking about another small "fun" boat. I live on a lake and can moor it for free, so the only extra expense will be winterizing and insurance.
I found a used Freedom 170 with the 130 hp sterndrive. Does it have enough power to get a slalom skier out of the water?

I have a 2006 H180 with the 3.0 volvo 135hp and as long as the slalom skier already knows how to get up than yes it does. My boat pulls me up no problem on one ski but if i were to try and have someone learn how to do it than i am not sure. It also pulls my brother up no problem on 2 skis who is 6'2" and about 230lbs. Hope this helps a little

I owned a Freedom 170... but it was the 4.3 carburated... and man, that thing was a rocket! I once pulled out 2 slalom skiers at the same time... I now have a 5.0gxi horizon 200 with a whopping 270hp, and I swear that freedom boat was faster and had better hole shot... unfortunately I can not comment on the 3.0 in the same boat...

The only time mine struggles to pull me up on a slalom is if I have 5+ people onboard. It isn't rip your arms out quick but quite adequate all the same. I am 6 foot and around 90 kg and I my style at deep starting leaves a lot to be desired. Check a few of my posts in the waterski section, hope this helps

Thanks for the responses. Unfortunately, it's too cold and flooded to think about the boating season, yet.
