I just bought a 2006 Horizon, and although there is a lot of information about the power trim indicator, none of the illustrations match the indicator in my boat.

My boat's indicator is divided into 3 sections with a dark mark nearest the down position. Is the bottom third of the gauge (between full down and the first mark) the acceptable operating range?

Thanks,

Richard

rwx, when the trim sender is adjusted corretly, that lower third is the operating range, with beach mode being at the top of that third. Beach range (7 to 10 degrees) is where I consider the trim to be at the highest operable range, and I would make a practice of not going over idle speed at that level. Some even try to avoid operating at idle with the wheel cranked at either extreme at this trim level. But that's not to say that your trim sender is adjusted correctly, it would be prudent to visually inspect or measure the outdrive at the various trim settings prior to operating it, and re-adjust the trim sender, or worse case make temporary marks on your gauge, to ensure that you meet Volvo's recommendation to never exceed 1000RPM with the outdrive tilted 6-29 degrees, and to never run the engine with tilt at or exceeding 30 degrees.

Thanks for the info. Since my gauge is not marked in degrees, I'll do some test positions with an angle gauge to see what mark corresponds to what degree.

I tested my indicator, and the bottom third is 0-15 degrees, the next is 15 to 40 degrees, and the top third is 40 to 63 degrees.

The latest Volvo manual lists the full operating range from 0 to 5 degrees, beach from 6 to 40, and lift above that.

FourWinns needs to install indicators that have some significance with regard to the marking or address the ranges in the Four Winns manual.

That's the exact same indicator I have. Maybe I'll have to measure the angles as you have next time I'm at the boat. I can say that I only run my boat when the trim is in the lower third, but with my setup the indicator dispays two thirds when the drive is all the way up, the needle only indicates 'full up' when the key is off. I'd be very happy if mine were setup like yours!

Sounds like the trim sensor is mis-adjusted. Mine pretty well goes to the Up and Down marks with the key on, and goes offscale past the Up with the key off.

I just rec'd a Seloc Volvo manual that explains how to adjust it, if you are interested.
