Took our 98 Horizon 200 out this weekend for the 1st time. Couple of small issues that I am hoping somone may have some information on. 1. Does the boat have a depth finder ?. Dont see it on my gauges, although the boat does have a digital clock and wondering if there is some kind of depth finder mode. 2. The trim gauge doesnt work at all. Any ideas on what the problem could be here. 3. The oil pressure gauge was a little eratic. Went up almost to the red and then back to about 3/4 of the way up at 3000 RPM while we are running. Then after about 2 minutes at idle, an alarm went off and the gauge showed an oil sign. Engine sounded fine, didnt get hot etc. I suspect this may be a faulty oil pressure sensor, but not sure Any tips would be most appreciated Other than that .. . . ..... What a great ride ![]() Cheers Dave |

My trim gauge deflected to the full up position. Upon inspecting the sending unit, I found the wires pulled out of it right at the base. The new one was like $130 something but I haven't installed it yet since it's going to be a real pain. I'll probably just wait until I pull the outdrive off for winter and there will be a little more room to get at it. To me, it sounds like you don't have a depth finder but I'll let someone else who knows differently give the 100% answer on that. Is your oil level OK? If it is, you'll want to figure out if it's a sending unit issue, something with your gauge, or what. I could care less about speed, trim, etc. As long as my RPM, oil, and water temp gauges work, I can make sure my engine is operating normally. If any of those 3 to T.U. you really don't know if it's running OK. Nubby |

You should have a depth finder where the clock is (as you suspected. You press the mode and set buttons for two seconds and it will change to the depth finder. Make sure your key is 'on'. You really should download and read the owner's manual. It can be found at http://www.fourwinns.com/past_product/owners_manuals This will give a lot of information about your boat. |

Downloaded the owners manual.. Thanks Also spoke to my local boat repair guy who was very familiar with the oil pressure issue. He said it is usually caused by a bad ground in the VDO cluster of gauges and the trim problem is quiet likely as a result of the same problem.. He is coming to fix it next week and told me that a 50 or 100 ohm resistor on the oil sensor is a quick fix for the eratic oil gauge problem. I will hang over his shoulder while he works this to see if I can learn any tips to share.. Cheers Dave |
