Greetings!

New to the site and the Four Winns Family. We bought a new-to-us '98 RX a few weeks ago and love it!

Got a question...I noticed yesterday that the battery is a deep cycle and not a starting battery. I find this odd, since usually deep cycle batteries and used as house batteries. The boat starts fine, but I'm thinking I will swap it out next season for a starting battery.

Am I missing something?
Thanks
John

Most use dual purpose if they only have one battery. If you replace it, get one of those.

You are right, a strait deep cycle would not be good as the sole battery.

It's more for using other items when the eng. is not running. Cold cranking amps batts are for starting, deep cycle for fishfinders, trolling motors that kind of stuff. If you only have single batt., cold crank is standard or you could get the dual purpose.

Thanks for the quick replies. That confirms what I was thinking. Since the boat only has one battery, I will probably switch to a dual purpose next spring.

Thanks again!
John
