In the process of buying my first Fourwinns, searched around and think they are very good boats( friend has a 240 H). I'm trying to compare the two boats in the subject header. Both are in very good shape with low hours.... the 230H has 158 hrs and the 240 H has 168hrs. From what i can find out FW did not make a 240H in 2000, so is the 2000 230 H really the same boat as the 2002 ,240H? Both are listed at 24'. I have seen the 240H but the 230 H is about 400 miles away and only going by what the owner has told me , he is the second owner , he bought it from a friend. Anyway any input, opinions, heads up, you can provide is much appreciated. I have been lurking on the forum for a bit and the info i have read seems to be very honest . Thanks

Both would be 230's. The whole line was re-numbered in 2006, and the 230 became the 240 with no other (significant) changes. My sig says I have an '05 240, but that's just to avoid confusion - it's really a 230. Since the hours are so close to each other, go with the one that has the best combination of larger engine, best maintenance, best off-season storage conditions, most honest & knowledgeable owner, etc. Don't buy the one that's a couple thousand cheaper if all the above factors favor the other one; you'll pay for that decision every time you use the boat. Also don't be put off by a 400 mile trip, if that's the better boat. Some folks travel from one end of the country to the other for the right deal. Trailer condition would also be a consideration, but of course you aren't buying it for the trailer. But be aware that as much or more maintenance is needed on the trailer as on the boat and the trailer tends to be neglected by many.

Finally, if you get a bad feeling about both boats, just hang on - don't force yourself to buy a dog. There are a TON of boats for sale right now, many by desperate sellers.

Thanks Mike. Both boats have the VP 5.7 and the duo prop.

Well, it sounds like you have two close competitors. Of course if everything was equal, go for the newer one :) .

Mind if I ask what the sale price is for each? I just bought my 2000 H230 and I love it! Big boat for its class.
