Yep, Four Winns mounts them all the time. As in the FW 180 Fish n' Ski model.

Has anyone mounted a trolling motor to a Four Winns 180? I was thingking of getting one, but I not sure how to mount it without messing up the boat. |

I have a Horizon 190. A bow mount electric motor is problematic. I have a commercially made aluminium hidden hitch type receiver and mounting plates that will eventually be bolted through the integrated swim deck on the port side. It has a receiver and motor mount that holds up to a 9.9 motor. I have seen the same rig mounted on another boat with a 9.9 Merc and it looks/works ok. You would remove the receiver/motor before transporting the boat on the highway. The receiver/motor can stay mounted together. To install you would have to drill the holes a little bigger than needed, then glue the hole sides with marine epoxy to water proof, then mount also using ¾ inch marine plywood (pre-finished with spar varnish) on the inside of the motor compartment. To steer you would use a commercially made extension handle. I was advised to not use bars to join the motor with the leg because using the boat steering without the engine running would be hard on the power steering pump. That configuration would work with an outboard. |

I think the 180FS model has a flat spot built into the bow where the trolling motor mounts. The best bet may be to fabricate something similar that would give adequate mounting space. That wouldn't solve the problem of the pedestal seat though. |
