I have a 2000, 210 horizon with a 5.0GI engine. I am experiancing a problem with the idle. When shifting from forward to neutral the idle will start increasing until you do something to correct it like shut down and start up, or disengauge the lower unit and punch the idle and it will recover to a normal idle. Any thoughts??

You may have a throttle cable issue or the engine management may be at play. Have you removed the spark arrestor cover and the spark arrestor so that you can view the throttle body as this is happening? Can you see that the throttle arm is fully coming back to the idle position (or isn't)?

This is a carb'ed engine, yes? If so, I'd recommend a carb rebuild if the linkage checks out OK.

I think the 2001 5.0Gi is throttle-body injected. (?)
