Post subject:  Drain plugs on 2000 Horizon 180

Hi Guys;

New to the forum as I have just bought a second hand Horizon 180 a 4.3GL engine- my first boat! I am going to store it during the winter and start using it in the spring. Does anyone know how many drain plugs it has that need to be renoved?

I can see a brass plug at the base of the hull, does it require a special size of spanner to remove it?

Thanks in advance.

The brass plug on the rear of the hull is more than likely a 5/8" wrench But... it is the least of your worries if you are trying to winterize your boat. The engine needs to be drained and some antifreeze needs to be added to protect it. Do some research here and you will find threads talking about how many people winterize differently. I would suggest that you find a method that you are confident with and understand completely or else get a professional to do it! Cracking the block or manifolds will put a hold on your season next year and you won't be a happy boater.
