Hi guys, I was curious how often most people actually get out on the boat. Mine is new and it's my first boat, so I'm running it a lot, but was curious how my summer might compare to the others on this board.

I have 77 hours on it this year already, and I'm going out tonight for a few more. It's going to be a 100 hour summer for sure. And this doesn't count the time spent floating around with the engine off (which is a lot)!

How many hours per year do you use it?

We are on ours almost every weekend for at least one day, if not the whole weekend, from May through September. This is my third full summer with it and I have 350 hours on it. It had a few hours before I got it. The first year I put about 120 or so. The next two years have been right at 100. Makes it easy for maintenance purposes!! I sense its holding up my sale of it but so what. I paid for it, I'm going to use it. Plus, I would say 15-20% of the time I'm floating, I'm cleaning or taking care of it some way.

I couldn't even begin to count the hours just floating.

After two seasons I have 76 hours on my engine. I keep the boat about 4 hours from my residence so using it takes some effort. I used the boat a total of 8 times this season.

Last season I bought a used boat mid July and by end of September I had put 70 hours on the meter. This year I have only put 30ish hours on the boat and have consumed the same fuel $ as all of last year. The weather has not been good this year and that is the main reason for the lack of use. But I was hoping for a 50 hour season minimum at the onset because I knew some of the "newness" of boating would have worn off.

I bought my boat this year and already have 85 hours on it. I'm positive I will break 100 hours for this year.

I believe it's common to average 100 hours per season (given a May-September season). Yes. that's engine hours, not total time on the boat. We generally use ours every weekend, with a few long weekends and afternoon trips now and then.

Last estimate we came up with was about 100 hrs since June 1 when we bought it this year but that was 3 weeks ago.

Living the DREAM

I am on my second season, about 90 hours per season. We go out almost every weekend. I take customers maybe a couple or 3 times per year on an afternoon during the week, and spend one week of vacation on the lake each summer. The boat is well worth the money to my wife, children, grandchild, neices, nephews, brothers, sister, in laws, friends, and me.

I don't have an hour meter, but we use the boat at least one day per weekend, but mostly we get out both days. Throw in a few 3-4 day weekends and it gets a fair amount of use. Usually, we'll run for 3-4 hours when out for a full day.

There's also usually 1 day during the week when we go out after work or for a 1/2 day.

Given that we had a terrible spring, we ended up using it a lot this year, probably more that last year (our first).

Man, I wonder if my hour meter is working properly. I bought my 2007 last year this time and went to the lake around 5-7 times. This year we've gone out around 15-20 times, which is not as much as we would like. My hour meter shows 14.

How can you not have an hour meter for the engines? All boats come with them, or at least I've not heard of many that don't. You'll have a problem come resale time getting a decent price for it if the hours aren't known.

I have a 2002 H190 without an hour meter. At least not that I've seen. I don't think it's that uncommon for smaller boats not to have one.

I would guess I run her 90 to 100 hours a year.

If you boat on a small lake and spend much of your time parked, this would not be out of line. My regular lake can be traveled from one end to the other in roughly 30 min. I've only done it once this year. Also, if you don't do much towing (tubes, skis, etc.) an average day at the lake could have as little as 20 min run time.
