Was looking at some new 2008 SS boats online at a local dealer and most of them say they have the 4.3L V6? Didn't know they ut a V6 in the SS model? Seems kinda odd to me. or is this a mistake? |

I have seen the 4.3 listed as a base engine in the regular 200, never checked the 200SS. I have a 4.3 in my ole '88 200 Horizon, and it is adequately powered with it (4-bbl carb) but this one is longer, narrower and lighter than the current 200s. |

I deal can order them anyway they want them. During boat show season they skimp to have a lower sticker price to compete with other brands. You will also see them at the show with less chrome trailer wheels and no snap in carpet. |

Doesn't seem to make sense to me to buy an SS and not get a V8. I guess to me its like buying a V6 Mustang or Camaro. |

I test drove a 21' Ebbtide with a 5.0 when shopping originally. That was definately a pooch with just me, the service guy and half gas! I couldn't imagine less HP than that with my typical load out. |

I have the 4.3 in my SS. The 4.3 fit my budget more than the 5.0 plus with the gas prices last year it was best. The down fall is that the 4.3 doesn't have the thru exhaust. My dealership didn't tell me the 4.3 came without the exhaust or I would have went with the 5.0. On the other hand this was my first boat so I will have it for a fews years before upgrading. |

20 foot boat with a 4.3 is still way better than a Bayliner. ha ha. Sure - the V8 is always going to be better in every way EXCEPT for economy (gas, price, etc). the SS looks fast whether it's got a v6 or v8! Besides - how often are you going to push your boat to the max to see that extra 4-5mph? Does the 4.3 still get the boat to 50? |

Even though I only have the 5.0 it still turns heads when I fire it up. Doesn't compare to all the 30-40FT power boats with twin 454's in my area, but still sounds nice. |

Is a SS an SS if it doesn't have a V8?? Never saw a Camaro SS without a V8 or any SS without a V8. |
