Planning on buying a portable marine GPS. Dont need anything fancy since its just for lake use, but would like to have the lakes maps etc installed.

Any suggestions on a good entry level product

Cheers

I am using the Lowrance XOG it is a crossover GPS.I find the XOG works very well In my truck, its is able to read a Navionics Card and is weather proof (not waterproof). I also use it for my motorcycle. The best part is it is very easy to pick it up for a $150.00 both In Canada and the US.I plan to purchase a card for the waterway that a travel.

It maybe fancier than you want, but after a bunch of research, I'm buying either the Garmin Oregon or Colorado (touch screen or not) as a backup. They can come pre-loaded with Lakes.

I just stumbled upon the Garmin Outlet Store but haven't done the price comparisons yet.

I have the Garmin 400s. It has built in maps and a cartography program with transducer. With the G2 Blue Chip you can get even more info. We are considering upgrading the SD card to that for use in the Delta this summer but it is expensive. Something like $250 but worth it if you avoid a sunken wreck.

My cell phone has GPS on it for use in the car so I have never considered a dual purpose GPS.
