HELLO
I'm thinking about buying a Horizon 195 Cuddy
the person that is selling the boat told me that he changed the motor he replaced the v6
with a v6 from a car. question is this a bad thing to do is a marine motor the same as a car motor ?
also when the boat is running and you go from neutral to forward their is a small grinding noise like when you mis a shift on your standard shift car.
any answers would help
thanks
Perry

This would be a bad thing. Marine engines run different valve train due to the constant high RPM's they run. THey are build to handle it and car engines are not. Also not really sure if an automotive application engine would have the drain plugs in it needed to drain the block for winter storage. I would stay away from it if it is a auto engine unless the marine valve train was used and drain plugs are present. The lower end of the engines are pretty much the same other than the before mentioned drain plugs.

That model has not been made for a LONG time, I'm thinking like 20 years or so...maybe more....if it wasn't stored inside there could be rotted wood in the decks and transom...not something you want to get involved in fixing.
