Well, today was the first time i tried to start my new? boat- it took quite a bit of coaxing to get it to go ( along with a jump start off my tractor) but it ran great! i had 1 noisy lifter that quieted down after a few minutes and the best part is the new impeller and thermostat held the temp. to aprox. 160 deg. ( if you can believe the gauge.)- it held steady there for the whole test run! and no leaks anywhere!!!! i see my volt gauge is not too accurate- showed a charging voltage of 16+ volts (maxed out on the gauge) i hooked up my multimeter and it gave me a 14.6 volts thru various rpms so i'm happy with that! the engine idled down really well and gave very smooth shifting into forward and reverse. all this and a 70's + day outside! now all i have to do is get a new battery and give it the real test of putting in the lake (which i hope to be soon!!) bk  8) :D

Glad things worked out with your boat's spring commissioning. It was warm but wet on this side of the state, but we still spent the weekend on the boat.

By jumpstarting off the tractor, did that mean you were running it while on the trailer? Using muffs and a hose? For anyone using muffs be careful about throttling up. The added RPMs will pull a lot more water and may collapse the hose. This will starve the engine for cooling water and likely ruin the impeller. Just advice to remember.

good cautions to remember. i only jump started off the tractor- then removed the cables. i did remeber to keep the rpm's down both in and out of gear. like i stated originally, the cooling ,using a garden hose, provide enough water?? as was shown by a steady coolant temp. of around 160 deg.?- bk
