Captains,

This is my first season to de-winterize the boat after having the marina winterize her last November. They removed the plugs from the engine block on both sides as well as the from the exhaust manifolds. I got the plugs back into the exhaust manifold ok, but have had some trouble with the engine block plugs. I am running the 5.0GL-E, by the way.

In the engine block there is a brass adapter with a male thread going into the block and a female thread. It would make sense that the male plug fits right in there, but I am having trouble starting the screw - can't even get a 1 decent turn - as if, that is not the right coupling or something. The plug looks to have 3/8"NTP threads, but I can't tell about the female threads. I plan on commandeering a plug gage or two from work in order to find out for sure. Any of your other guys know for sure if there is two mating brass parts? Otherwise, I would have to assume the marina put the other plug in for some reason.

Thanks mates.

TRH

Could it possibly be the boat's drain plug ? Just guessing.

No, its not the drain plug to the hull which has a square head on it. The plug I am trying to put back as a 9/16 hex head. I went onto the VP site and found an exploded view of the engine block which shows the drain cock as two brass pieces. I guess I just need to work on lining up the plug better. It is a hard to reach place of course...
