Ok maybe someone can help me.... I Judt bought this 2007 Fourwinns 240. There is one Acc button that stays lit. One simple question, isnt everything supposed to go off when the kay is turned off?

Like mine, very little seems to power off when the key is off other than the engine..! Without the key the interior lights work, blower works, nav lights work, horn works etc. All sort of makes sense I guess as you will want all of these if you are moored etc. I am considering putting a battery isolation switch in to remove all power, for example when stored in my garage.

Typically most of the accessories can be turned on with the ignition off

On mine there is a battery switch so you have the option of shutting everything off.

The switches all work even with the key on or off. The key switch on my boat has ACC, OFF RUN and START positions just like a car. I use ACC when I am floating with the radio and any other acessories turned on which bypasses the hour meter so you don't rack up "fake" hours on your boat. My hunch is that you have one switch that is defective or wired differently. The lights should only be activated when the switch is "on" ie. when you have power going through it to energize your device.

With my electrical problems last week, the first indication I had was when the blower switch light was on when it was switched off , and the light went off when the blower was switched on!

It is normal that everything but the radio and depthfinder gauge are all non-switched, constant power items. The only way to insure that you turn those off is if you have a battery switch in the "Off" position. Even then, your auto bilge pump and anti-corrosion systems will be wired directly to the battery.

Hi Graham,

No battery isolation switch at all on the H190. I was concerned what to do if I ever got a short in the wiring (God forbid) which got me thinking about it... Will definately put that down for this years winter project

BTW, will be in the UK the next 2 weeks - what's the weather like?

You don't want to know about the weather here, certainly in the North West/ Wales; 13 deg C, windy and wet this week, maybe a little better next week. 35 mph winds promised for Friday, when my boat is launched!

I've run EVERYTHING through my battery isolation switch. I have been in a boat with an electrical fire. Not a good feeling thinking about what wires could be melted together, wondering what is now energized that shouldn't be. This way, I can kill it all with the flick of a wrist.

It would seem that the light on the accessory switch should go off, maybe that switch is defective. I have the dual battery switch with 2 dual purpose batteries....so I usually have everything shut off when the boat is stored....but when it's on the mooring I always leave it on, I have the bilge pump auto switch wired through the common lead on the switch. I know some boat builders do it so the switch is direct to the batteries, so even if it's off, the switch has power,but I felt in case of a fuel leak in the bilge I want to be able to shut off the bilge pump. So my batteries are always left on when it's moored....
