Never had a problem pulling a large skiier with my 4.3. Runs the stock factory 141/4" x 23" 3 blade aluminum prop... With the kids on wakeboards they pop up out of the water like a cork - it's awesome!

Hi, I have a 1996 200 with the 5.7 Volvo. I've had a 19 pitch stainless on it but I'm fed up with the lack of power getting a skier up. What prop should I go with to get maximum pulling power? Thanks for your help! |

Under power on 200 with 5.7 ?... You might have issue with something else as well. If you are looking a good hole shot, Stainless Steel four blade prop … or high 5 five blade prop for skiing. |

My 5.0 in my 200 has NO trouble pulling up skiers....has the factory 3 blade stainless prop. I suspect something is wrong elsehwere unless that prop has somehow lost its "cup" |

We are the orginal owners of the boat and its always been like this. With women or smaller guys its fine, but I am 6'4 240 lbs and it drags me. Where is the best place to buy a prop? I've checked Overtons but they only have 3 blades. Thanks for the help guys, I'm glad I found this forum. |

you might try hillmarine.com great deal on a 4 blade stainless. Have several friends that have bought from them & are very happy with the purchase. Can't go wrong with the price. How many people in the boat when you are trying? |

We usually have about 4-5 adults and a couple kids. That is a great deal on props at hillmarine. Would you suggest going to a 4 blade 17 pitch? Would that kill my top end? |

I don't need that much top end as I can count on both hands the amount of times I've had it up there. We had an 18 ft Californian with a 5.0 when I was a kid. That thing would pull up 2-3 skiers no problem but I don't think it could crack 35 on its best day. |

Just another tip for a prop resource: http://www.midwestpropeller.com. It's a small father & son shop in the middle of nowhere, Kansas, but they can advise you on props like few people can. Marinas send props to them from all over the world for repair. The number is on their web site. Ask for Bob or Bob, Jr.

Firstly welcome. You should have no probs pulling skiers with the setup that you have. I ski behind my H180 with a 3.0 merc no probs with a 19 inch SS Vengence 3 blade prop and I am aproximately 200 pounds. Some things that might come into it are 1) Your technique - changing that can dramatically affect how quickly you pop up 2) How is the weight distributed in the boat?- Is everyone sitting towards the rear as opposed to being evenly distributed 3)Is your outdrive trimmed all the way down for the start- If it isn't this will cause the stern to dig in on take off 4) Does the engine have good compression, tuned up etc 5) Is the ski too small for you- a ski that is too small for you will always be harder to deep start with 6) Is the ski set up correctly - If the front binding is too far back it will be harder to start on If you go to a 17 inch prop it will give you better hole shot but will most likely affect top end speed, just be carefull that it doesn't allow the engine to over rev . The 4 and 5 blade props seem to have a good following for the purpose of waterskiing etc , and logically that should be true as they have more surface area on the blades to "GRIP" the water, however I have no personal experience with them Hope this helps |
