Hey everyone,
Was planning to get in the water asasp for my first time boating, I was thinking since we had the engine fogged for winter storage, would it be smart to start the engine on land before it hits the water?
We are having it stacked and it is right next to water tap.
picking up some muffs that feed water to both side's of the outdrive as recommended by many people on here.

Is there anything else I can do to be 100% ready?

Make sure the batteries are charged.

If you have access to some water , hook the muffs up and kick her in the guts . Motors that haven't been started in a while are often harder to start . By doing this , when you get down to the ramp it should go no probs. I personally like to start mine in this matter each time I use the boat, as it just saves a whole lot of hassles and you can check that everything is working properly first

Agreed. Better to catch a problem at home then on the boat ramp.

What I do and suggest is running water before the start. Inspect all hoses and check the bilge making sure no water is leaking where it shouldn't. Then, start her up allowing the motor to run for 15 minutes. In this time, I do a 2nd inspection of all belts and again for water leaking. It also allows the winterization oil to burn off, charge back your battery for the ramp start, and make sure the impeller/thermostat are working properly by getting the engine temp up and stable.

Back it down to idle for a bit and then off. Check the oil and oil filter, again, no leaks.

All this gives me great piece of mind at the first launch.
