Ok before I call FW to ask, I want to ask does anyone have a 2007-08 180 with a Bimini factory or dealer installed? I just had my dealer install a factory Bimini and all of the fittings are white plastic except for the pivots are SS.The reason I am whining the top was $827.00 plus labour (and tax) which was OK if the fittings where SS.Another smaller issue was the additional $78.00 in fittings for the hull to mount it. If your buying a dealer installed kit it should included everything right? The dealer told me that the 180 and 190 have plastic fittings. The 2008 sales brochure says Bimini have SS fittings. Did I miss something? |

so when you say fittings are you talking about the pieces that attach to the boat or the pieces that connect the polls that make up the frame? |

On the FW site, building a 180, the bimini is a $525 option. The ones at my dealer all had stainless fittings on them. They were more than likely aluminum poles, but all the fittings were not plastic. This picture was on a 180: For $827 just for materials, I would expect at least to have stainless fittings to come with it. Then again, it never hurts to verify when ordering. I would try to get the stainless upgrade |

The fittings on the boat are SS,all of the connectors and pivots are white plastic. All of the prices are Canadian prices. |

Don't under estimate the dealer...He's out to make money and keep his business afloat. Your "wants" and desires become his largest profit potential; learn from this and always get the price and all details in writing before proceeeding. Is the bimini a true FW item? (Check the tag that should be attached somewhere on the inside of the cover). I'm not to sure why you are concerned though. My 2001 H260 has the white plastic fittings and they are holding up just fine. If you really like the bimini ask for an explanation, maybe get a small discount then suck it up and pay the bill so you can get on with the rest of your summer! |

Due to the weather on the weekend the boat didn't see the water. So I still havent had it up,it is a factory part.I dont mind the price I just think the plastic looks alittle cheap. It wont ruin my summer life is too short! The boat should be in the water Thursday. |

We bought the factory convertible top instead of the bimini, but it also included the white nylon fittings for the windshield mount. I have never given it much thought, as they have held up fine so far without sign of deteriorating. |

In regard to the ss fittings if that is important to you than you should push for them. When I ordered mine the Bimini wasn't the genuine Four Winns version and has the plastic fittings leaving the standard fittings unused. This to me is a non issue as it was more important that the Bimini was made to my requirements ( I can stand up under it). I have had canopies on other boats all with plastic fittings with no problems. If there was a problem they are cheap and easy to replace. The bottom line ....I really like what I have, and no problems so far ![]() ![]() |
