We bought a 1996 Horizon 200 Fuel Injected 5.0 late last summer. It ran great at low speeds (20-27) until we accelerated to 35 or more it would start to chug until we brought it back down to idle and start all over again. We changed out the fuel filter a couple of times, each time we put new fuel in an empty tank. It did seem to help but not fix the problem. We took it to a mechanic by the lake and he said it could be a trim problem (we didn't have the trim right and were creating drag so it was bogging down??) This advice also seemed to work, the boat was able to do 45 without a miss, granted we didn't have it in the water very long. Well, we just took it to the lake for the first time this summer and it's back... It runs great even at speeds from 35-45 all morning long then by 2:00 p.m. it started bogging down like before. Then to top that off it completely shut down. It will fire back up but it trips the breaker and turns off.
It seems like the boat has to get warm before it starts the chugging thing, but its temp is at 140 and the rpms are 3800-4000 at 40 mph. We have been told the bogging down could be fuel pumps.??
We are stumped on the breaker thing.
Any suggestions??
