I was wondering if you guys can give me some direction on where to look at. I have an 07 200 Horizon with a 5.0 GL volvo penta. I had a full service done about 2 months ago. I took it out this past weekend and noticed that I lost about 300-400 rpms. Before I was able to hit about 4800 rpm trimmed out. Now I was only about to hit 4400 sometimes 4500. I did wax part of the bottom of the hull but only the part where I have my keel guard installed (fyi - I already had the keel guard installed when I hit 4800). I went through 3 tanks this weekend as well. I got about 140 hours on the boat. Got any ideas?????

Truly....probably nothing wrong.

There are a lot of possible factors here:

1. Fuel quality (you said 3 tanks, were they from the same place?)
2. Altitude
3. Ignition components (plugs, wires etc...what condition are they now)
4. Temperature
5. Fuel filter condition

Just because they said you got a full service doesnt mean much really. Everybody defines a full service a little differently.

Are you noticing any problems though? Does it actually feel sluggish etc?

boat felt fine. Just could'nt top out where I normally would. Altitude same, original plugs and wires still, temp about the same as always, brand new fuel filter. Oh and the gas was from 3 different gas stations. Not sure if the range of 400 rpm's is common on a given day

yes I did. Actually I had less gear and I tested it throughout the day. The last time I tested it was at sunset with 1/4 fuel. I did gain 100pms more with almost an empty tank but when I recorded the numbers before that was with at least half tank.

Your boat doesn't stay in a slip in the water all the time does it?? If so growth will have a big effect on speed. Otherwise if you trailer the boat I'd take & to a gas station that has alot of business & fill it up with fresh gas right before the next time you use. Go from there. How many hours do you have?

You stated you had your boat in for a full service. What's the chance the servicing shop inadvertently swapped your prop for another? A different prop would explain lower RPM's.

boat does not stay on a slip. The bottom of the hull is very clean. I'm pretty anal about it. Prop is the same. I remove the prop everytime I put it away for storage. Prop is in perfect shape as well. I asked the service guy to see if maybe he adjusted the throttle cable to where it would not open all the way and he said it was fine. I'll just run another set of fresh gas and see what happens. I appreciate all your guys response. Some great ideas here
