Best of luck on that, Cap'n. I bet she'll come out like new, and in your case you don't have to wonder or worry about what the real cause was - although, *knowing* what the real cause was, is bad enough :).

Does anyone know how many molds a mfr. uses to build a given boat model? I'm sure it varies by mfr., model, price level (production numbers/targets), etc. - but in the case of a boat like the FW 230/240, I'm sure it's not a serial operation, with one mold being used to build every boat. Yeah, I guess I'm wondering, if these are mold marks, why am I the only one who has them (out of the admittedly small sample represented on these boards)?

Ouch! "new owners who didn't winterize"... Yikes. I guess that happens more times that we want to know [all those folks who don't read any forums! ;) Glad to hear the problem sounds superficial....

I am not sure the process FW uses, but I have read where some manufacturers have to 'recondition' their molds after so many builds, and they otherwise simply clean the mold between each boat.

If this is true, then it would seem that say if 5 boats are made between reconditioning cycles, then you would have 5 boats of differing quality.

Again, I caveat that I do not know what process FW uses, and this is just some information I picked up along the way - so I really don't know if it is alltogether true or not.

Update posted to the BABC thread, if anyone's interested.

That makes sense Al. Thanks.

Outstanding Mike! I'm thrilled that the dealer and the manufacturer took good care of you. That also seemed like pretty fast service, but I guess that's easy to say when I wasn't the one without a usable boat. I've heard other good stories of Four Winns standing behind their product.

Anyway...enjoy the season. :) I'm getting ready to go to Table Rock, MO for a week. I know you like going there so I'll let you know how it went.

Thanks, Cap'n. Now I just have to re-check it at the beginning and end of every trip . But after one trip, so far so good.
